It is important to consider the balance of the size instrument against the developing capacity of a child. The smaller instruments like the Cornet and Tenor Horn have a general appeal for ease of size and handling in younger children. Some children are naturally drawn to the larger instruments, not only are they heavier as they increase in size, they take more blowing, and are obviously more suited to older, taller, and more sturdy developers.
